Scam alert:
Emails are being sent out supposedly from the IRS advising the taxpayer they
they are being "e-audited" and asking for Social Security numbers,
bank account numbers and other confidential information. They are further told
that they must respond within 48 hours to avoid paying penalties and interest.
The IRS Criminal Investigations Division has sent out an alert to law
enforcement agencies about this new scam.
The IRS does not e-audits. The email is a scam.
Should you file your taxes electronically:
Not in our opinion. It makes them easier to audit.
Two new spreadsheets.
The first lets you calculate your possible losses if you foreclose on a loan.
You can adjust for different times to foreclose, different fix-up costs, selling
costs etc.
The second new spreadsheet lets to enter a loan and calculate the payments for
an increment in interest rate and principal. In other words, for a 1/4 percent
or $1,000 each way, or any other increment you set.
You can even forward this free to your clients with your contact information on
it.
